From the notebook

La Baie 2017 is an earthy rosé with a rural overtone of wild flowers and weeds and an off- dry finish from the highly talented young winemaker Sébastien Fézas based in Gasgogne in the South Western part of France. The wine is made on Syrah that has been pressed directly and fermented in concrete tanks rendering a somewhat strange juxtaposition between a red and a white wine. This is not really a rosé. Rather it’s a white wine with notes of red fruit and summer berries. Weird? Yes, indeed. But ever so delicious. You might have had this feeling before in Champagne. But this is the Sud-Ouest and this rustic and charming wine is what we have been drinking all winter – and what you should be drinking this spring.
