From the notebook

100% Macabeo grapes harvested from a 60-year-old vineyard in 450 meters altitude called “El Prat”. The grapes from this clay-calcareous vineyard have been macerated with the skins for three days, pressed and then left to ferment slowly during the entire winter of 2020/2021. This makes an saline, wild and herby orange wine with true character and punch, while remaining incredibly drinkable at the same time.

But there’s also a really nice story behind the making this wine:

In recent years the regional cooperatives and big Cava cooperatives in Tarragona have been paying the wine growers less and less, and last year the price of one kilogram of grapes dropped to stunning 30 cents, something that’s very hard to make a living from!

Out of solidarity with the local winegrowers, Mariona & Albert decided to buy some grapes from people that they trust and pay them what they deserved.

That’s why the label of El Prat 2020 shows a farmer who’s cutting the strings of the grape buyers, and  that’s a human cause we want to support, and we think you should too!
