Rhône
The Rhône wine region is located in southeastern France and is known for producing a wide range of red, white, and rosé wines. The most famous wines from the region are the red wines made from Syrah and Grenache grapes, which are known for their richness, complexity, and aging potential. The region is divided into two main sub-regions: the northern Rhône and the southern Rhône. The northern Rhône is home to the famous appellations of Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage, and Crozes-Hermitage, and produces wines that are known for their elegant, aromatic, and structured character. The southern Rhône is home to the appellations of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas, and produces wines that are known for their ripe, fruity, and powerful character. The Rhône region has a Mediterranean climate with warm summers and mild winters, and its soils are varied and include clay, limestone, and granite. These factors, combined with the skill of the region’s winemakers, produce wines that are highly regarded both in France and around the world.
