Casarecce – Wasted Pasta
DKK 55,00
Italian-bronze cut “Casarecce di Pane” pasta made from ~25 % up-cycled bread waste, 100% vegan — a flavourful, responsible choice.
Created by the Copenhagen-based startup Eat Wasted and produced in Italy, this pasta is made by reclaiming bread that would otherwise go to waste.
Meet the Casarecce di Pane from Wasted Pasta!
Wasted collects bread surplus from large-scale bakeries (bread that’s still safe: frozen within 24 h of baking). That bread is dried, turned into flour, and mixed with durum wheat flour, Manitoba wheat flour and vital wheat gluten. No binders, no preservatives, no animal-products.
The formula: ~25% bread-waste flour.
Extruded through traditional bronze dies, dried at low temperature, to deliver the “al dente” bite lovers expect.
Why we love it at Omada Wine & Deli:
It fits our ethos of combining flavour with responsible sourcing: you get excellent texture & taste and help reduce food waste.
Vegan-friendly (no eggs/animal products).
For every kilogram sold, one portion goes to vulnerable communities via Food for Soul, founded by Chef Massimo Bottura & Lara Gilmore.
Tasting & serving suggestions:
This Casarecce shape (short twisted) is great at catching sauce in its curves. Try pairing with:
A bright tomato-herb sauce + shaved Parmigiano (or vegan alternative)
Roasted seasonal vegetables (e.g., zucchini, cherry tomatoes, olive oil, garlic)
A richer sauce: mushrooms, kale, and butter to show off how the texture holds up
