Domaine de la Petite Soeur is run by the highly talented and super energetic winemaker Adrien de Mello. Adrien originally comes from Bretagne but back in 2015 he decided to settle down in St. Aubin de Luigné in Anjou and today he cultivates 4 hectares of vineyards planted with Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Gamay. The terroir here is dominated by schist and Adrien farms the land manually by means of organic and biodynamic practices and with the help of his beloved horse Toscane.
Adrien de Mello’s wines are very special to us since Solfinn witnessed the moment when Adrien decided never to use sulfur in his wines again. It was during an epic french lunch with natural wine legends Jean-Francois Chene and Sébastien Dervieux (also known as Babass) while Solfinn was researching for his book project that Adrien tasted some old vintages from the infamous Hacquet Sisters that he got the inspiration and encouragement from Chene and Babass to go 100% natural. And so he did and his wines have become more pure and clean every year since then!
