Beaujolais is a wine-growing region in eastern France, located just south of Bourgogne (Burgundy). The region is known for producing light, fruity wines made from the Gamay grape. Beaujolais wines are typically characterized by their vibrant red color, juicy fruit flavors, and soft tannins.
Beaujolais Nouveau is released each year on the third Thursday of November, just a few weeks after the grapes are harvested and since produced using carbonic maceration, in which the grapes are fermented whole, without crushing or pressing. This produces a wine that is fruity, light, easy, and fun to drink.
