U Carusu 2020 – Gueli Vini

U’Carusu 2020 is made by Davide & Giuseppe Gueli, two brothers making natural wine, almonds and olive oil in the hot and rocky subregion of Agrigento, about 25 kilometers upcountry from the Southern Sicilian coast. U’Carusu is made from Nero d’Avola, a red variety that dominates this part of the island, and other local varieties such as Quattro Rappe and Catanese Nero, pressed slowly in whole clusters and fermented in open cement tanks. The combination of high altitude vineyards, mineral soils and a large difference in temperature between day and night, makes a characterful rosato with a smooth fruitiness and a crunchy volcanic bite.
